Mystery Canadian animal

Well folks and followers we have a challenge for all of you and the first to rise to the occasion will win the adulation of millions... or at least a few...for a little while. But hey, it's not whether you win or lose just so long as you win- right!?

So down to business: Jill was out strolling and enjoying the sunshine the other day (while I should add her husband was flat out like a lizard drinking, at work) when she happened across an animal the size of a possum near the waters edge. Below is a picture of said animal and a video - which is of no actual use in identification, but I didn't want anyone to think that we were withholding any information from them.

The challenge? What is this animal?
