Redwood Forests of California

Seeing some of the redwood forests of California is something that I wish everybody could do. To walk amongst the largest living things on earth and realize that some of them have been there for thousands of years was an experience that is hard to put into words.
The images don't capture the essence of what these forests are like. Reflecting on our experience in these forests makes me wonder if I will experience anything as awe inspiring. Sure we have the Grand Canyon to see and other such huge geological formations as we travel on, but these were LIVING and have been for periods longer than it is hard to comprehend that ANYTHING can live.

Just how big must this tree have been?
